Under age drinking
There are different feelings towards this subject. Mainly sore one because I just went threw an MIP it sucks that much more considering I turn 21 in 6 days. Even though you are breaking the law I believe that the punishment does not fit the crime. You get stuck paying all these fees, are forced to get evaluated then more than likely have to take drug and alcohol classes. Which cost money. The worst part of all is you get your license suspended. http://search.dmv.org You have the option to apply for hard ship but must pay $50 for the application and $75 to get it reinstated. Its all a scheme. Its a ridiculous punishment.

Street Lights
On May 18 Heather Bennett, 22, of Corvallis made her plea about better lighting to the Corvallis City Council. As director of community Affairs for student government at Oregon State University she was determined to bring more street lights that would create a safer environment for Corvallis citizens.
Bennett has been serving as director of community affairs since fall 2008. She feels it is her responsibility to voice the concerns of the unseen. Many students and herself have shared the same frustration of the unsafe lighting in Corvallis.
For many of the students walking or bicycling is their main way 0f transportation . Since last fall she and her interns surveyed students on their thoughts and feelings about the street lights.
Jeanne Raymond a city council member, asked Bennett, "What complaints and how were the complaints made available to you?"
Bennett answered by saying, "It was all through the surveys that we got our information from. It all just became a massive complaint. "
David Hanby another council member asked, "How were the people getting surveyed found?"
Bennet replied, "With the help of my interns and I we went and asked students on campus, off campus, teachers. People from the Greek community."
Many of the council members were pleased and seem all for the change. Council Member Joel Hirsch even joked about becoming more sympathetic to the issue.
I asked a gentleman that sat next to me Jon Marvell 21, a student at OSU how he felt about the change for improvement.
"I'm excited and I hope it happens. I ride my bike more than anything and it gets scary when there are no lights around me. I would feel a lot safer with better lights."
After the presentation I got the opportunity to ask Bennett why of all the issues students and citizens of Corvallis is this something that you want to change?
" I myself share this problem and if there is anything that I can do to make college life more enjoyable and safer I will," Bennett said.
Nathaniel Estrada was also at this town meeting and he had taken the survey. I asked him if he felt that some of those questions were a bit leading? "I felt the survey had a topic they weren't just random questions and most had to do with street lights effecting people."

Decoration Day
Memorial Day is days away and even though it is a day to remember those who have died for our country. It is now more looked at as a 3 day weekend to go camping Or Macy's huge memorial day sale. www.macys.com Memorial day is a day to go to the graves and decorated the graves of the dead. At least that's how this day came to be. Everything is now commercialized and big companies take advantage of that. No where on those advertisement does it have anything to do with Memorial day. Schools get closed downs but students never really get explained why. So this memorial day spend it as it was meant to be and decorate a rave remember those who fought for you, don't blow money on some pointless sale that has nothing to do with Memorial Day.
Packed and Gone
I am currently in the process of moving. i so far has been the most exhausting thing ever! I had taken a different rout. For those who can shield out a couple of dollars its well worth it. The past days I have been sore and stuffed. My mind is clogged with clutter. It also does not help that I have three other roommates. and right now everything is every where and no space to move. Its a nicer location but I wonder if it was worth it. Luckily there are free services. Our dish move was free as well as the electricity. Water will charge you an 80 dollar deposit. Moving is expensive and time consuming. good luck on your next move.

Breaking Love
Love and heart ache go hand and hand. Its a blessing to fall in love and depending on who you are a heart ache can mean many of things. Some go a life time with out experiencing love nor heart ache. As for me I have experienced both.
My experiences with both emotions were both roller coasters. There are so many emotions and thoughts its like you’re a different person.
I first fell in Love two years ago. Summer love. It was marvelous, nothing I had ever experienced before. I would have constant butter flys, the simplelist things were ten times better. A walk in the park became a Hawaii vacation experience.
All you think about is the other person, and you just cant wait till the next time you get to see him. Colors are brighter, food taste better, even the air smells better. It a joyous experience.
I personally felt like I was in a cloud. The moon and stars are just a hand reach away. Every day is a good day. You feel complete, and whole. You wonder how you could have ever lived a day with out this person in your life.
I still remember the day I fell apart. I remember the smell, a horrible smell its like sadness has sour odor that just seeps threw your pores.
You feel nauseas , your moments from throwing up because you have a sharp pain in your stomach that’s comparable to a punch. Your thoughts are racing threw your head wondering what went wrong.
You fee like your drowning, your own anxiety and panic is preventing you from breathing. You cant do anything but cry. How do you explain to your teachers you cant turn in your math homework. Its impossible to pick up the peaces let alone a pencil.
You wont sleep or eat, thinking rationally is out of the question. You feel like your going crazy when people look at you as if you should be over it a week later. Or when you star crying at your work in front of customers and strange woman start praying for you.
And all you hear from your friends is “are you ok?”
Do I look Ok?
Eyes blood shot because the tears wont stop flowing. And everyone has the same advice. “O maybe it wasn’t meant to be. Time will heal your wounds.”
But time doesn’t heal your wounds it may slow down the tears and there may be a day or so that you don’t think about the person but the wound is still there and very open.
You don’t want to hear that it was never meant to be. You want to get lied to and get told he will come back.
Eventually the pain goes away depending on how long the relationship is and intensity of it.
If you think that you can not go threw it alone and need to talk to someone on a personnel level. You can always go to a counselor. You can make an appointment to speak with a counselor at Linn Benton Community College. There are 5 counselors that are available at the Albany campus. These services are made available to everyone not just students
I spoke to Charles Madriage a counselor at LBCC. I asked him a few questions about this topic. "Is there a chemical imbalance when you go threw a break up?"
"There has been scientific proof that there is a chemical imbalance when you are in love, however there is not a change when you go threw a break up."
I asked his opinion about what gender handles a break up better?
"It's not about the gender but its about the support that you surround your self with. Breakups are hard and I believe there especially more difficult when your younger. When you don't really have your own identity, and you find an identity in someone else so when it doesn't work out it crushes you. You get a feeling of rejection."
I asked Sara Mayers,24 a Linn Benton student and friend how long it took her to get over her six year relationship. “Three years of us being apart is coming up next month and I can honestly say that he is now completely out of my heart.”
The best advice she told me was to just separate and completely disconnect your self from that person.
When I asked My roommate Jordanne Amerling, 20 about breaks ups her advice was more of a saying “Breakups are like a broken mirror sometimes you get hurt more trying to fix it.”
The best advice I can give someone who is going threw a break up is cut all possible contact with that person.
Take some zanex to help with the panic. Don’t go anywhere where he maybe. Change your number if you have to. Lock your cell phone up if you feel the itch to text him. Delete your myspace account.
And especially do not drink!!!! If you do you may risk loosing the rest of your dignity and the next thing you know your yelling at a Barbie who resembles your ex seconds before you burn it in a can.
The only other person who knew exactly what I was going threw is my ex. We eventually got on good terms and we have even spoke of the situation. The way he coped was surrounded himself with friends and family.
You don’t have to go threw it alone. Even though you feel alone and abandoned surrounding yourself with people who support you is the best thing you can do.

Save a Pet
To save an animal is a great thing one can do. When I interviewed Jordanne Ameriling a fellow student at LBCC she said saving Louie. An Australian Sheppard is the best thing she ever did. she says she loves sharing her home with her beloved new dog.
When you save a pet you usually are helping animals that have been abandoned. Most of the adoption centers are all voluntary and are non profit.
Safe Haven is where Louie was saved from. Its pretty simple to adopt a pet there is a application that must get filled out and fees that must get paid.
Their was never a doubt in her mind that she wanted to save vs. buy a pet. Every animal deserves to be loved and have a family. Louie is now part of the family. When Louie came home he was full of surprises. No one expected him to be trained.

Wolverine
I usually decide if i want to see a movie in the theater because I feel the movie wont be the same at home; special effects or because I just really want to see it. This is the fourth X Men movie and I would like to say it was the one with the lowest budget. I usually don't mind when the special effects are just non realistic but at least look real. Well in this movie not only were the special effects cheap they were tacky. The whole walking slowly in front of a helicopter that just exploited and is now smoke and fire has been done! In die hard 1,2,3, and 4. the movie had a good story line and explained a lot. It also had a love story in there as well. Overall it was an OK movie the acting was really good. I recommend seeing it, just not spending any money on it.
