On April 21st in a supreme court hearing regarding a student accusing another student, Savana Redding at Safford middle school in Arizona of being strip searched for having medication Ibuprofen.
There was talk around the school that other students were involved in having a prescription party. When the students officials got wind of this "party" they strip searched Savana because they believed she had ibuprofen. Now years later in 2009 she is suing. School officials defend themselves by saying " I would rather embarrassed one child then to have another dead."
I believe that at every age people have rights and Savana's rights were violated. In any other case or instance the authority's would have needed a warrant. Bottom line the school was in the wrong, there were a thousand ways they could have handled the situation instead of causing emotional damage.
